The Balance, The Juggle, The Pull - August 2011

Do you ever feel like you need to be in more than one place at a time?

Oh my word, how do we balance, juggle, and manage the pull?

Life is never one dimensional, but at times it does seem to be rather demanding!    As Jen is preparing for her move and the date of departure is drawing closer - the intensity of her day to day living is accelerating and we hope to be there to support her.  Equal in acceleration are the needs of the other generations around us.

We find ourselves heading to Denver to spend time with cousins as Joy battles the final stages of leukemia; grieving Uncle Ed’s death; handling the doctors’ appointments and care  needs of parents; preparing as Deirdre moves to the Willard Sorority at Nebraska Wesleyan;  accepting Joey the poodle is near then end of his earthly life  and  each need accelerates in proportion to Jen’s needs.  When it rains it pours!  There is just never enough time and energy to get it all covered.

Trying to balance and juggle and calm the pull is like a delicate waltz.  Maybe even a bit like a duck gliding on water.  Do you know what is going on under the water’s surface as a duck glides gracefully on the water?

She/he are paddling with all their might.

A duck glides smoothly on the surface and experiencing turmoil beneath the surface.

And so it is at times in each of our lives........  paddling like mad!

Thank God for His faithfulness to us each day!

The sun comes up!

There is air to breathe and water to drink!

The sun sets!

The peace of stars amidst night’s darkness reigns!

Another  day reveals some sense of balance.
