Do you remember the Steve Martin movie, “The Jerk”? He is gathering items from his home as he is leaving and declares, “this is all I need”.
One great blessing! One huge assurance!
An e-mail from Jen, the subject “made it”!
Oh my word, I don’t need anything more than this! She is safely in country; that is all I need.
Jen’s e-mail assured us that she was safely in Macedonia and also had arrived in Tetovo at South East European University. Her computer was not yet secure and ready to be used, but one quick, brief, “to the point” e-mail was all I would need at this moment!
“I am here, I have had a tour, the people are all so wonderful so far. I do not have luggage, but they have helped me call and get that taken care of as well (hopefully anyway).”
Luggage can wait for another day. She was safely on the ground and in Tetovo and with wonderful people. That’s enough for one day. That is all I need.
How often do we change our want list or our need list?
Sometimes it takes very little to launch us into celebration, exhilaration, and total glee! Safety, security, and feet on the ground! All I need!
Nothing worthwhile or worthy in this earthly life comes without effort, sacrifice, ad some good hard work.
Dose #3.
P.S. OH MY WORD - At 8:00am September 13th, United Airlines flight status still read that the flight had not yet departed Dulles! Thank God they were wrong! It did take off! Almost on time! And Jen made it to Vienna in time! AND Jen was in Skopje on time! Thank you Austrian Air! OK... the most important cargo arrived on time; however, Austrian Air customer service for a lost baggage claims is not better than United Airlines’ flight status accuracy.
